HOUSTON – Two women were killed in two crashes on the Gulf Freeway in Southeast Houston.
Police said two drivers crashed on I-45 Gulf Freeway and Griggs at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

The other driver who was responsible fled the scene.
A woman’s black car was disabled and came to a rest facing the wrong direction in the middle of the freeway.
Two women in a Ford Explorer stopped to help the woman and the passenger got out of the SUV.
Another driver tried to avoid the scene but crashed into the car and hit the passenger who had stopped to help.
Both women died at the scene.
It’s unclear if the woman in the black car died in the first or second crash.
