HOUSTON – A driver is in the hospital after being shot near a west Houston parking lot, according to police officials.
Around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, Houston police officers said they responded to reports of a shooting near Sam Houston Parkway and Bellaire Boulevard.

Responding officers said they found shell casings at a gas station and found a vehicle crashed into a pole in a nearby parking lot. The driver of the vehicle was allegedly found with a gunshot wound to the neck.
The victim was transported to a hospital by emergency responders where they remain in critical condition, according to police.
Details behind the shooting or a suspect are unknown at this time, police say, but they believe an altercation happened in the gas station parking lot.
