PEARLAND, Texas – A Pearland High School theatre teacher is on administrative leave and under investigation by the Pearland Police Department, KPRC 2 has learned.
“Please be assured that the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority,” said Aliana Wynn, Pearland ISD’s director of communications.
Families were not notified about the teacher’s investigation.
“To maintain the integrity of this ongoing investigation, campus families have not yet received a formal communication,” said Wynn. “The campus principal did meet with Theatre booster parents in person to share the news of the employee being placed on administrative leave.”
A spokesperson for Pearland Police Department sent us the following statement:
“The Pearland Police Department is aware of the allegations involving a teacher at Pearland High School. We are actively investigating the case to determine if a criminal offense has occurred. At this time no charges have been filed in this case.
We will not be releasing any name at this time due to no criminal charges being filed in this case."
On Pearland HS Theatre’s website, a director is not currently listed.
Hailie Young, who graduated from Pearland High School in 2023, said she had a few interactions with the theatre teacher in passing.
“He was cool,” said Young. “I didn’t really have any complaints.”
Young said she was shocked to hear about the investigation and concerned that families were not notified.
“feel like people should know because I’m a parent,” said Young. “I have a seven-month-old, and if she was in school and I heard about all this happening, I would want to know further details so that I can protect my own child.”
KPRC 2 is working on learning more details about this investigation.
