Deputy Lewis was taken to a nearby hospital where authorities listed him in “critical but stable condition.”

The Houston Police Department is investigating the incident. They do not have information on a suspect at this time.

“Our hearts and prayers are with Deputy Lewis and his family,” the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.
