It happened in the 700 block of Country Place Drive, near Memorial Drive, just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD said officers responded after getting reports of a shooting and a man down in the parking lot. They arrived to find the man, who had been shot at least once. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

While officers were investigating at the complex, another call came in from a stand-alone emergency room nearby of a man who was dropped off with a gunshot wound to his arm. Crowson says officers were told a black car drove up and the occupants pushed the wounded man out of the car and onto the ground before driving off.

“He initially told us that he had been shot off of Bissonnet, we don’t believe that to be true, we believe him to be part of this scene,” Crowson said. “Right now, he’s en-route to the hospital, we’ve got officers maintaining custody of him until we can figure out what we’re doing.”

Crowson also said police believe the shooting to be narcotics-related, as some drugs were found next to the body of the man in the parking lot.

Officers are looking for witnesses and surveillance video to try and get a better description of the suspects and vehicle involved.
