Man shot after argument on Houston’s METRORail platform in Midtown

Man transported in serious condition to hospital

HOUSTON – Houston police say a man is in serious condition after being shot multiple times during an argument on a METRORail platform in Midtown on Thursday.

It happened around 7 p.m. in the 3500 block of Main Street.

Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD says two officers were nearby working extra jobs at a restaurant when they heard gunshots outside. They ran outside to see what was happening and saw a man running down Berry Street to Fannin. The officers then later found out that a man had been shot several times.

The officers applied a tourniquet to the man before he was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Police learned there had been an argument on the METRORail platform between the victim and another man. During the argument, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim.

HPD and METRO PD are investigating and are working to get surveillance video that could give them a better description of the suspect.

This shooting comes as METRO is set to expand security across its system. The agency recently announced plans to add more guards and patrols as rideship grows.

Data shows 517 major crimes were reported during 76.3 million rides between October 2024 and September 2025. That’s compared with 473 crimes during 73.3 million rides the year before.
