Dickinson man charged with murder in father’s death, police say

Suspect was already jailed on an unrelated narcotics case

DICKINSON, Texas – A 41-year-old Dickinson man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his father, according to the Dickinson Police Department.

Police said around 12:56 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2025, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a death in the 1700 block of East FM 517 Road in Dickinson.

When officers arrived, they found a 67-year-old man, later identified as Kenneth Jackson, Sr., dead inside the residence.

The department’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene, and the Galveston County Crime Scene Unit assisted with the investigation, police said.

In an update on Thursday, Dickinson police said the victim’s son, Kenneth Jackson, Jr., 41, has now been charged with murder in connection with the killing of his father.

Investigators said Kenneth Jackson Jr. is currently being held at the Galveston County Jail on a separate narcotics violation, and his bond on the murder charge has been set at $300,000.

The Dickinson Police Department said it is continuing to investigate. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab, and the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the case.

Police did not release additional details about the circumstances of the death.
