Houston burglary suspect gets stuck in chimney, has to be rescued by fire department

HPD says the suspect was trapped about halfway down the chimney and never made it inside the home before being taken into custody with minor injuries

HOUSTON – A suspected burglary attempt in Houston took an unusual turn early Sunday when a man got stuck while trying to enter a home through a chimney, according to the Houston Police Department.

Houston police were called around 1 a.m. Sunday to a residence in the 9100 block of Tooley Drive. Police say the caller reported someone was jumping on a roof. Officers believe the person was a burglary suspect.

According to police, the suspect tried to get into the home through a chimney but became stuck about halfway down and never made it inside. The Houston Fire Department responded and removed the suspect from the chimney.

Police said the suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
