Officials said they were serving a felony warrant when the wanted man barricaded himself inside the residence.
“At some point, they tried to make contact with the suspect. He then turned and ran and barricaded himself inside the residence. At that point, the suspect did not open the door, did not comply with the deputies that was on scene. They heard some sort of noise, what was believed to be either a gun racking or something that caused concern to the deputies. So that they backed off and surrounded the house and called activated SWAT,” said Maj. Cedrick Collier with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The warrant was reportedly related to a call where the husband allegedly assaulted his wife. Negotiations with the suspect fell through and SWAT deployed gas. Around 1:45 p.m., the suspect surrendered.
No one else was inside the house at the time. Collier said they learned there were children that lived at the home, so they waited until the kids were in school but serving the warrant.
Collier says the warrant for the suspect was for a charge of continuous family violence.
