THE WOODLANDS, Texas – A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy inside a home in The Woodlands early Thursday morning, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators identified the suspect as Easton J. Spoklie, 17, who has been charged with criminally negligent homicide.

MCSO deputies were called to a residence on Redberry Court around 4:04 a.m., where they found the 16-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound.
Lifesaving efforts were attempted at the scene, but the teen was pronounced dead.
Authorities say two other teens, ages 17 and 19 — identified as a friend and sibling of the victim — were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
Since the initial response, detectives have continued processing the scene, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses.
Based on that ongoing investigation, officials determined the circumstances support a charge of criminal negligence.
The charge was accepted by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and Spoklie is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail.
MCSO said the case remains an active investigation.
