HOUSTON – A man was hospitalized after being shot multiple times during a dispute involving two families on Friday morning in northeast Houston, according to police.
Officers with the Houston Police Department responded around 1:50 a.m. to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 7300 block of North Wayside Drive.
When officers arrived, they found a man in his 30s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his arm. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators said the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between two families. According to police, the argument involved allegations regarding relationships between the families’ spouses.
During the confrontation, members of both families allegedly pulled out firearms and exchanged gunfire.
Police said an earlier 911 call had been made involving the same two families, who were reportedly threatening to fight one another, but no violence occurred at that time.
Authorities detained three people, a woman and two juveniles, who were being questioned Friday morning. Investigators have not yet determined who fired the shots, and no charges have been announced.
Detectives with HPD’s Major Assaults Division are leading the investigation.
Police said search warrants were executed on both apartments involved in the dispute, and investigators recovered one firearm.
The investigation remains ongoing.
