In an X post Sunday night, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that Angel Javier Rodriguez is in jail, charged in the double homicide.

HCSO Major Ben Katrib said patrol deputies were dispatched around 10:50 a.m. on a “life-in-danger” call reporting that people had been shot. Deputies arrived within minutes and began life-saving efforts until paramedics took over, but both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

KPRC 2 community news partner Grizzy’s Hood News was at the scene when investigators said a 17-year-old girl had stepped outside her trailer with her toddler to hand the child to a family member when her ex-boyfriend allegedly appeared with a gun, leading to a confrontation.

The teen’s 29-year-old brother then came outside in an apparent attempt to de-escalate the situation, deputies said. The suspect allegedly shot both victims and fled in a vehicle.

“Miraculously, the child is unharmed and will eventually be with family,” Katrib said at the scene.

Humble police officers and Harris County sheriff’s deputies later located the suspect’s vehicle in the 8800 block of Will Clayton Parkway.

Rodriquez was taken into custody without incident, Katrib said. Investigators also believe they may have recovered the handgun.

The investigation is on-going, anyone with information is asked to call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at 713-221-6000 or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
