HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found partially burned in a grassy area at 8139 Gulf Freeway near Sims Bayou.
Police said the call came in around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

A crew mowing grass in the area found the woman’s body.
A preliminary investigation by HPD homicide investigators, the Houston Fire Department Arson Bureau and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined the body had been partially burned.
Police said the body appears to be a Black woman with a star tattoo on her hand.
An autopsy will determine the manner and cause of death.
