HCSO Sgt. Mike Ritchie said deputies responded to the residence earlier in the morning after a man called 911 and reported finding his parents dead inside a bedroom.
Sgt. Ritchie said deputies and medical personnel responded, and both parents were confirmed dead at the scene. Based on what investigators observed inside the home and inside the room where the deaths occurred, authorities said the case is being handled as a suspected murder-suicide.
The couple was described as a husband and wife in their mid-to-late 70s. Sgt. Ritchie said it appears the husband shot his wife and then turned the weapon on himself.
Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives remained at the home as family members were interviewed, Sgt. Ritchie said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
