League City man faces murder charge after police say he stabbed parents, killing mother and injuring father

Police say the father called 911 from Oaks of Clear Creek home

LEAGUE CITY, Texas – A League City couple was stabbed Friday evening inside their Oaks of Clear Creek home, leaving the wife dead and the husband hospitalized, according to police. Their adult son was arrested and is now facing a murder charge.

The League City Police Department said officers were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. to a home in the 1300 block of Deer Ridge Drive after the husband called 911 to report that he and his wife had been attacked.

When officers arrived minutes later, police said they found the husband outside with multiple injuries and began rendering aid. He told officers his wife was still inside the house with the suspect, police said.

Officers then forced their way into the home and were able to pull the woman out, according to police. Paramedics with the League City Fire Department took over care and rushed both victims to a hospital.

Police said the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Juan Jose Uribe Pelaez, did not come out when officers tried to call him out of the home. Investigators said the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office drone team assisted by helping officers determine where the suspect was inside the residence. Police said Pelaez was eventually taken into custody after officers used a taser.

The woman later died at the hospital, police said. The husband remained hospitalized in stable condition as of Saturday morning.

Pelaez was booked into the League City Jail and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in a family violence case, police said. Bond was set at $250,000 for each charge.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact League City police at 281-332-2566.
