Drive-by shooting on I-45 leaves 19-year-old in critical condition

HOUSTON – A 19-year-old is in critical condition after a drive-by shooting late Sunday night in Houston.

North Belt patrol units spotted a truck parked on the feeder road near I-45 and Glenborough Drive around 11:40 p.m. When officers approached the vehicle, they found it had been struck by multiple gunshots.

Officers found the teen — a back-seat passenger — had been shot once. Houston Fire Department crews rushed to the scene, and the victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told officers the shooting happened somewhere along I-45 near Airline Drive. According to those witnesses, an unknown vehicle pulled alongside the truck and fired several rounds into it while both vehicles were traveling on the freeway.

Houston Police Department is handling the investigation.
