HOUSTON – Cy-Fair firefighters are battling two neighboring house fires Wednesday in west Houston.
The fires were reported in the 5000 block of Walnut Cove Dr. in the Deerfield Subdivision.
Residents in the Deerfield subdivision are currently without power due to the fire.
Power has been shut off to a large part of the subdivision due to the fire. Residents are being asked to not call their power provider.
The cause of the fires are unknown at this time.
A woman told KPRC 2’s Re’Chelle Turner she was home with her dog and an HVAC crew. She said the crew was inside the attic and saw flames coming out of the roof. They quickly ran outside and a neighbor called 911.
Officials said no one was hurt and crews have been on scene putting out the hot spots.
The homeowner who lives in the second house told KPRC 2 he rushed out to his home from work and even saw flames driving along the highway.
He said he’s still trying to process everything.
Officials said his home is a total loss but crews were able to recover a few belongings from inside.
