HOUSTON – There’s a new face helping you get around Houston each morning.
KPRC 2 is welcoming Emmy Award-winning journalist Leigha McNeil to the team as a traffic anchor and reporter, bringing her experience in morning news, breaking news and community reporting to Greater Houston.

McNeil joins KPRC 2 from WWL-TV in New Orleans, where she served as a morning reporter and traffic anchor.
And in Houston, traffic is a big job.
Across a region as large and fast-growing as Greater Houston, a crash, construction project, road closure or severe weather can quickly change the morning commute. McNeil will help KPRC 2 viewers navigate those challenges with timely information they can use before they leave home and while they’re on the road.
“Houston is a community full of people who are always on the go, having the right information at the right time can make a real difference,” said McNeil. “I’m so excited to join the KPRC 2 team, connect with viewers every morning, and be someone they can count on for details on the morning drive while telling the stories that matter in our community.”
An Emmy Award-winning journalist
McNeil began her broadcast career while attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in English.
She started as a production assistant before advancing to weekend anchor and multimedia journalist. McNeil later worked as a weekend anchor and multimedia journalist in Waco, Texas, where her reporting included coverage of the murder of Vanessa Guillén.
She also co-created the Emmy-winning Black History Month special Uncovering Our History.
In 2022, McNeil joined WWL-TV as a morning reporter and later became a traffic anchor and reporter, covering breaking news and community stories while helping viewers start their mornings informed.
Serving Houston every morning
At KPRC 2, McNeil will bring that same audience-first approach to Houston, helping viewers understand not only what’s happening on the roads, but how it could impact their day.
“Our audience is at the center of everything we do, and that means understanding what Houstonians need from us throughout their day,” said Taylor Berry, Manager of Content and Coverage. “Traffic is one of those immediate, everyday needs. Leigha brings the experience and journalistic instincts to help us provide information viewers can actually use.”
McNeil is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
