BRAZORIA COUNTY – A group of inmates were injured after the truck they were in was hit by an 18-wheeler in Brazoria County.
It happened around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of State Highway 36 and FM 2004.

Officials with the Texas Department of Corrections said the men were on their way back to the Clemens Unit after working at a nearby employee housing area when the vehicle they were in was hit by a semi.
Investigators said all seven inmates were injured. They were transported to Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson in unknown conditions.
According to officials, five offenders were treated at a local hospital and are now back at the prison. Two other offenders suffered minor injuries and will need additional treatment a hospital in Galveston.
No other information has been released at this time.
