Man attempts to rob Midtown Fiesta with note, police say

HOUSTON – Houston police are hoping surveillance video will help them identify the man responsible for an attempted robbery earlier this month at a Midtown grocery store.

Police said the man entered the Fiesta at 4200 San Jacinto around 9:45 a.m., walked up to an employee and handed her a note.

When the employee hesitated to read the note, the man yelled at her, police said. When she read the note, she realized the man was attempting to rob the store and she immediately hit the panic button and walked away from the counter, police said.

The man became frustrated and said he had a gun under his shirt, but then quickly left the store, according to police.

He is described by police as being white, about 25 to 30 yeas old, about 5 feet, 2 inches to 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing about 140 to 150 pounds. He had blondish hair, a medium build and was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and/or arrest of the man in this case.

Information may be reported by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at www.crime-stoppers.org.
