HOUSTON – Christy Kroboth with the Texas Gator Squad has captured a giant 7-foot-long gator she nicknamed “Jackie."
Jackie was hiding under bushes on Jackie Turman’s property near Brazos Bend State Park on Tuesday morning as Turman’s teenage daughter went to school.
Turman called the sheriff -- who called Kroboth.
"Opened up her hatch. Got her little rope with a stick, and started talking to the gator. Like a dog,” Turman said.
Kroboth captured the alligator.
She said it appeared someone had shot the gator in the head.
"She put the noose on it. It did some of the death spins this way and that way. She pulled on it a little bit and tired it out and got on top, put the tape around the mouth, put the towel, strapped and they lifted it and put it in her car. In her car!" Turman said.
Kroboth met up with her partner, Gator Chris, to move Jackie to a preserve.
Chris already had an alligator in his truck. He picked it up near a home Monday.
"That little guy had made his home in there. Two toddlers (were in the home). One 18 months and one of them 5 years old. Two small dogs," he said.
Alligator season in Texas is starting.
Officials warn resident not to feed the alligators because it is bad for the animals and is punishable by a fine of up to $500.
