HUMBLE, Texas – Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital is increasing security, after two employees were robbed on campus.
It happened at around 9:30pm Tuesday, outside the Cancer Treatment Center at Medical Plaza 4. Humble police say the two employees were sitting outside the building, when two black men approached them. The men's faces were covered by bandanas and they were carrying guns.
Police say they stole the victims' cell phones, wallets, purses and IDs. "I think it's unfortunate, considering the area that we're in," said Raquel Holly, who works in a lab across from the hospital. "It's supposed to be a predominantly safe area."
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Memorial Herman spokesman Evan Koch issued this statement to Channel 2:
"The safety and well being of everyone on our campus, patients, visitors, staff, physicians and volunteers, is our number one priority."
Hospital administrators are also reminding employees about a 24 hour security service that shuttles employees to their cars or in between buildings.
Investigators will be looking to see if hospital surveillance cameras captured the crooks in action.
