Public asked to help identify person who shot dog with arrow

HOUSTON – The public is being asked to help identify the person who shot a dog with an arrow over the weekend.

Crime Stoppers of Houston and members of the Harris County Animal Cruelty Taskforce held a press conference today to ask for the public’s help identifying who is responsible for what investigators call a horrific case of animal cruelty in the recent death of a dog who was found with an arrow in his back.

"He was trying to stand and he couldn't stand. It was heart-wrenching to see that. It's cruel. If you do an animal like that you can do anybody like that," said Tina Crosby, who found the dog Sunday evening on the front porch of her northeast Houston home in the 9800 block of Cheeves.

Crime Stoppers announced an increased cash reward of up to $7,500 for any information leading to the identification and/or arrest of whoever is responsible.

X-rays showed the fiberglass hunting arrow penetrated the animal’s thorax, diaphragm, abdomen and liver.

The dog was transported to Texas A&M’s Animal Emergency Hospital for emergency surgery on Monday but did not survive multiple surgeries.

"Any small detail that you have about this dog could lead to something big for us and give us some sort of beginning to determine where this dog came from and who might have had a motive to hurt it," said prosecutor Jessica Milligan, section chief of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Animal Cruelty.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.

If you suspect animal abuse, neglect, hoarding or torture, report it to the Harris County Animal Cruelty Taskforce at www.927PAWS.org or 832-927-PAWS.
