'Professional' robbers caught on camera

Two men spent 5 minutes robbing McDonald's, convenience store

HOUSTON – Houston police are looking for two armed "professional" robbers who hit a combination McDonald's and Chevron convenience store earlier this month.

At around 8:40 p.m. on Dec. 10, one of the men is seen on surveillance video manhandling several employees, encouraging them to open the registers at the store at 15050 Old Humble Rd. in east Houston.

Frustrated, one of the robbers started shooting at the register with a handgun, police said. It does not appear from the surveillance footage that the register opened.

One of the bullets grazed a 31-year-old female McDonald's employee. She is expected to make a full recovery. Nobody else was hurt during the aggravated robbery.

During the ordeal, a mother and her young daughter are seen near the McDonald's ordering counter, but they appear to quickly leave as soon as they realize what is happening.

While one robber focuses on McDonald's, his partner goes for the register in the convenience store.

The men appear to spend at least five minutes in the store, and then leave in a stolen getaway car found torched a few blocks away.

Investigators describe both of the men, who are covered head to toe in black attire, as African-American. One is 6 feet tall and slender, according to a witness.

Police ask that anyone with information call HPD's Robbery Division at 713-308-0700.
