HOUSTON – A woman was killed and a man is facing charges after a crash occurred in northwest Houston, police said.
Police said a man in an SUV sped away from a fender bender on near the intersection of Hempstead Highway and West Tidwell Road around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Investigators said the driver lost control of the SUV at the intersection of Guhn Road and Leghorn Street and slammed into a tree, killing the woman in the passenger seat.
The driver was taken to a hospital.
Investigators said the man, identified by police as Jonathan Mendez, 27, had been drinking and is charged with intoxication manslaughter.
