If there’s one thing you want to be sure to do when searching for a company that will work on your heating or air conditioner, it’s to check on whether the company is insured and licensed.
“Every HVAC professional in the state of Texas must be licensed through the state to do work in your home,” said Bernie Quintero, sales manager at One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating. “And it’s also very important to ensure they are insured.”
When someone replaces your air conditioner or they’re working on an air conditioner, they’re working on some of the plumbing, and they’re also working on the electrical.
“If you use a contractor who’s not licensed and something were to happen -- like a water leak or some sort of electrical short -- that could cause damage to your home and, ultimately, your insurance company may not cover those damages,” Quintero said.
