HOUSTON – Astros ace Justin Verlander will start game 2 of the World Series Wednesday evening.

It's no secret that he's a beast on the mound. But his love life is a little more of a mystery. Yes, he literally loves Astros second baseman Jose Altuve - we learned that during the ALCS. But how much do you know about the other love of his life, Kate Upton?

HOW THEY MET
According to thesportster.com, Upton and Verlander initially met during a commercial shoot for a video game, MLB 2K12.

THEIR LOVE STORY
It wasn't smooth sailing in the beginning. According to E!Online, the rumors started swirling in the summer of 2012. They were spotted together in St. Thomas in early 2013. Months later, they parted ways. Upton then reportedly started dating Maksim Chmerkovskiy for a few months, but the model and the 'Dancing With The Stars' cast member broke up in late 2013. That opened the door for Verlander once again...and the rest is history.

THE PROPOSAL
According to thesportster.com, Verlander proposed multiple times but Upton felt she wasn't ready. She wanted to focus on her dual career as a model and actress. It's not clear how he finally got that "yes" but he put a ring on it about a year-and-a-half ago. Upton was first spotted with the rock on her finger at the Met Gala in New York in May of 2016.

THE RING
US Weekly brought in an expert to investigate the ring's worth. The jewelry company Ritani estimated the ring could be worth as much as $1.5 million.

WEDDING BELLS
When will they tie the knot? According to thesportster.com, the couple is holding off on setting a date.

THE MOVE
Verlander has said that his sweetheart played a major role in his decision to make the move to the Houston Astros. The New York Post wrote about a segment Verlander did with ESPN's 'Pardon the Interruption." That’s where he talked about how the decision was made that day: "Thank goodness, my fiancee, Kate, was there. It made my decision a lot easier." He said, "I looked at Kate and I go 'Screw it; We're going to Houston.'" Her reaction: "She's like 'heck yeah' and that was it. That was the decision."
