HOUSTON – Ahead of their season opener this Friday, the Houston Rockets have signed guard Kevin Porter Jr. to a multi-year extension on Monday.
Porter Jr. was acquired by the team via trade with Cleveland in January of last year, according to the team via news release. He has averaged 15.9 points, 6.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 1.01 steals, and 2.4 3-pointers made.

Originally from Seattle, Porter Jr. did not turn 22 years old until after last season. He played over 35 games during the 2021-2022 season averaging 3.13FGM on 40.4% shooting and was one of five players with at least six games played over the span to have averaged at least 3.03 FGM while shooting 40.0% or better.
Porter Jr. became the fourth player in NBA history to record both a 50-point game and a triple-double, joining other players such as Lakers’ LeBron James, former Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings, and Hawks’ Trae Young.
Rockets will be playing against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, Oct. 19. They will face the Grizzlies at their home opener on Friday, Oct. 21.
