HOUSTON – The Texans are placing former Arizona Cardinals running back Eno Benjamin on waivers, according to a league source.

Benjamin was previously claimed off waivers from the Cardinals, and Rodgers was previously with the Green Bay Packers.

A former seventh-round draft pick from Arizona State, Benjamin was used sparingly by the Texans.

He had three runs for one yard in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. He had no touches in a loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Texans starting running back Dameon Pierce is dealing with an ankle injury that could sideline him a game or two, according to sources.

The Texans’ other running backs on the roster are Rex Burkhead and Dare Ogunbowale.

Benjamin was cut by the Cardinals after being upset about his lack of playing time after the return of veteran starter James Conner.

For the season, Benjamin has rushed for 300 yards and two touchdowns. He has rushed for 418 career yards and three scores with 30 catches for 226 yards.

“It’s just a new start,” said Benjamin, a Wylie native, upon joining the team. “It’s the first time I’ve ever done such a thing. It feels like my move from Texas to Arizona going to college. I’m just kind of going through it and doing whatever I have to do to be ready.

“Definitely coming closer to home is kind of a dream come true. Honestly, family is a big thing for me. My family can drive down. It makes it a little easier.”

The Texans are re-signing former Miami Dolphins running back Gerrid Doaks, according to his agent, Joe Linta.

He was previously with them on the practice squad this season.

Doaks is a former Dolphins seventh-round draft pick from Cincinnati where he was an all-conference selection who rushed for 1,712 career yards and 14 touchdowns with 36 receptions for 407 yards and four scores.
