And the Texans charitable foundation partnered with CoolxDad, a local nonprofit organization, to provide a special school picture day with portraits taken by the Texans’ team photographer and apparel given to the students at the Title I school in the Third Ward community.

“Oh man, it’s a great feeling to be able to get in the community and get involved with Texans Care and CoolxD with the rest of the D-line,” Collins said. “Everybody showed up everybody wanted to make a difference in the Houston community.

“You’re obligated to be in this position and be blessed to give back to the community, a community very similar to the one I grew up in. I like to give back and be around and be involved. They’re excited. They get memories they get to have for a lifetime.”

CoolxDad, known for its mission to empower fathers and strengthen communities, was a recent recipient of the Texans’ Inspire Change Grant to help impact and expand their signature programming in education, financial literacy, physical and mental wellness, art and literature.

“My organization’s mission is to strive to build a better world for children and serve they community they live in,” said Kevin Barnett, the founder of CoolxDad. “This is a prime example, we have CoolxDad and the Houston Texans coming together in the Third Ward.”
