Source: Texans awarded defensive tackle Teair Tart off waivers from Titans, cut running back Mike Boone

HOUSTON – The Texans were awarded defensive tackle Teair Tart off waivers from the Tennessee Titans and released running back Mike Boone, per league sources.

Tart is a former undrafted free agent from Florida International who was released at his request. He is a pending unrestricted free agent.

He has played in 11 games for the Titans, recording 21 tackles, eight for losses and one sack.

Tart, 26, is a 6-foot-2, 304-pounder who has 76 career tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and one interception.

He was suspended one game in 2020 for unnecessary roughness for stepping on Cleveland Browns offensive guard Wyatt Teller.

He was assigned a second-round tender last offseason.

Boone has played sparingly for the Texans. He has appeared in nine games and rushed five times for 23 yards.

He hasn’t been active since a Nov. 19 game against the Arizona Cardinals when he had one run for zero yards and one catch for five yards. He has seven catches for 40 yards this season. He has four kickoff returns for 66 yards
