HOUSTONTexans veteran defensive end Jerry Hughes remains sidelined for the second consecutive week after spraining his ankle against the Indianapolis Colts.

X-rays were negative for Hughes, a Sugar Land native who recorded three sacks during the regular season with 32 tackles, four for losses. He had nine sacks in his first season with the Texans.

His status is regarded as iffy for Saturday’s AFC divisional round road playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Meanwhile, Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil (knee) and offensive guard Shaq Mason (rest) returned to practice along with offensive lineman Dieter Eiselen (illness).

Not practicing on Wednesday: Hughes along with defensive ends Will Anderson Jr. (high-ankle sprain) and Jonathan Greenard (ankle), fullback Andrew Beck (back) and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (rib, shoulder).

Limited on Wednesday: cornerback Kris Boyd (hamstring), linebacker Blake Cashman (knee), defensive tackle Maliek Collins (hip-core), linebacker Christian Harris (calf), wide receiver John Metchie III (foot), linebacker Denzel Perryman (bruised ribs) and wide receiver Robert Woods (hip).

Greenard, Anderson and Collins were all watching practice Wednesday and not participating in drills during the portion open to reporters along with Beck. Woods’ activity level increased Wednesday.

All are expected to play Saturday against the Ravens with the possible exception of Hughes who missed the Texans’ playoff win over the Cleveland Browns.

The Texans’ injury-depleted receiving corps got a boost last Saturday in a 45-14 playoff over the Browns.

Woods returned after being out against the Indianapolis Colts due to a painful hip injury.

Woods caught 40 passes for 426 yards and one touchdown this season in 14 games and 11 starts during the regular season.

Texans rookie standout wide receiver Tank Dell is out for the season with a broken fibula, and veteran wide receiver Noah Brown was placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury.
