A finance expert and CFO, Dillard thrives in marathons, basketball, mono-skiing, and his true passion, golf. His dedication extends to co-founding Be Able, a non-profit promoting health for athletes with disabilities. Eric Coovert

Coach Eric Coovert’s life took an unexpected turn with a rare cancer diagnosis, but his journey is one of remarkable triumph. John Metchie III

Diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia just before his rookie season in 2022, Metchie confronted a formidable opponent off the football field. Undeterred by the challenges that lay ahead, he embarked on a journey of strength and recovery at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The entire year was a relentless battle, with Metchie undergoing treatment and maintaining an unwavering spirit with the singular goal of returning to the NFL gridiron. In an inspiring turn of events, 2023 witnessed the triumphant comeback of Metchie, donning the Texans jersey once again. His remarkable journey caught the attention of not only his teammates but also Texans coach DeMeco Ryans, who commended Metchie’s unparalleled work ethic. The Texans’ annual Ed Block Courage Award, an accolade bestowed upon Metchie by his teammates, stands as a testament to his grit, acknowledging not only his on-field prowess but also his ability to conquer adversity with remarkable courage.
