HOUSTON – The Texans have re-signed veteran defensive tackle Khalil Davis, according to a league source.

Davis was a restricted free agent who was signed to a one-year contract instead of being tendered.

Davis, 27, is a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers sixth-round pick who emerged as a valuable rotational piece for the AFC South champions.

Davis played in 15 games with one start for the Texans last season and recorded a career-high 32 tackles with two sacks, six tackles for losses and six quarterback hits.

Davis has also played for the Birmingham Stallions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams.
