Chris McDermott wins 13th annual Guy V. Lewis award

HOUSTON – Every year the Guy V. Lewis award is handed to the best boys basketball player in the Houston area and this year, Booker T. Washington’s Chris McDermott.

“I’ve been believing I’m the best and this award shows it. The hard work I put in, every day,” McDermott said.

The Eagles big man averaged 20 points and 18 rebounds on the season helping to lead Washington to a district title.

“Chris is such a great kid and great person. He’s so humble, I’m glad he won.” Washington head coach, Vincent Grayson said.
