Aldine baseball wins first district title in 32 years

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – It took over three decades, but the Aldine Mustangs were finally able to reach their district mountaintop and take home a title.

“Its pretty cool, not going to lie. I’m glad to be a part of it.” shortstop Johnny Toupes said.

“It feels really good, I’m really proud of my team. We all worked together to get here,” senior Julio Gonzalez said.

For head coach, Johnny Toupes who has been at the helm for eight years and a graduate of Aldine High School, the district title holds even more significance.

“It was a little bit different, being an alumni it means more.”

The Mustangs will hope to make a state run after reaching the playoffs for a third straight year.
