Source: Texans strike deal with seventh-round defensive tackle Marcus Harris

Defensive lineman agrees to terms

HOUSTON – The Texans have agreed to terms with seventh-round defensive tackle Marcus Harris, per a league source.

Harris is signing a four-year, $4.105 million deal that includes an $85,480 signing bonus.

Harris, 23, is a 6-foot-3, 295-pound All-Southeastern Conference defensive lineman from Auburn who began his career at Kansas before transferring.

Harris finished his career at Auburn with 97 tackles, 23 1/2 for losses and 11 sacks. He recorded 40 tackles 11 for losses, seven sacks and one forced fumble last season. In 2022, he had 30 tackles, 6 1/2 for loses, two sacks and a pass deflection.

Harris has bench pressed 225 pounds 34 times and run the 40-yard dash in 5.06 seconds with a 1.77 10-yard split.
