The Texans promoted McGill from pro scout to director of pro personnel two years ago.

McGill was previously with the New England Patriots as a scout, including contributing to three Super Bowl winning teams, before joining the Texans.

McGill was a scouting assistant for New England for two years, joining them in 2010, before being promoted to pro scout.

McGill started his NFL career as a seasonal intern for the Tennessee Titans’ scouting department in 2009.

A former University of North Carolina running back, McGill rushed for 2,393 career yards and 24 touchdowns for the Tar Heels. He was an all-state running back and high jumper.

The Texans’ personnel department, led by general manager Nick Caserio, includes executive director of player personnel James Liipfert, assistant director of player personnel Chris Blanco, co-college scouting directors John Ritcher and Mozique McCurtis and director of college scouting operations Tom Hayden.

Debick, like Caserio, is a fellow John Carroll University football alum.

The Texans hired former Patriots Midwest area scout D.J. Debick as their assistant director of pro scouting in 2022.

Debick joined the Patriots in 2016 as a scouting assistant and was promoted to area scout in 2018. He’s a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers intern who has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from John Carroll.
