“First and foremost, I want to give all glory and praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Stroud said in a statement. “It’s a blessing to be recognized as the PFWA Good Guy Award winner, and it stands out to me because it’s more of an award that embodies someone’s character rather than the stats they compile on the field.

“I appreciate the job the media has and thank them for choosing me as someone who is deserving of this honor. A special shoutout to the other very deserving players who were nominated and those that won before me.”

Stroud is the 20th Good Guy award winner and the first from the AFC South franchise.

The other finalists for the Good Guy Award were Cleveland Browns guard Joel Bitonio, Buffalo Bills tackle Dion Dawkins, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce won the award in 2023.

The Good Guy Award is given to an NFL player for his qualities and professional style in helping pro football writers do their jobs. The award has been presented annually by the PFWA since 2005.

Stroud passed for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions and had a 100.8 passer rating. He led the NFL in touchdown-to-interception ratio. He joined Tom Brady and Joe Montana as the only NFL quarterbacks to lead the NFL in passing yards per game and touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Stroud was consistently cooperative, insightful, and open in all of his dealings with the media, taking time to thoroughly answer questions every week.

“It’s cool, man,” Stroud said in January after receiving the Houston chapter’s award. “Thank you guys. I appreciate it a lot. I try and do my best to answer questions the right way.

“That’s kind of how I was raised, just to be insightful, look people in their eyes, stuff like that. Thank my mom and my dad.”
