They previously signed him to a reserve-future deal, adding him to their offseason roster.

Haynes went undrafted out of Old Dominion and signed with the Broncos, joining their practice squad after he didn’t make the 53-man roster.

In three preseason games, he had five tackles and one pass deflection.

Haynes (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) had 5 1/2 sacks and a forced fumble as a junior and four sacks, 47 tackles and one forced fumble as a senior.

Several injured players didn’t practice, including Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil (offseason arthroscopic knee surgery), offensive lineman Tytus Howard (in-season knee surgery), fullback Andrew Beck (strained calf), wide receiver Noah Brown (offseason torn labrum shoulder surgery) and defensive tackle Pheldarius Payne (strained hamstring).

Texans coach Demeco Ryans indicated that Tunsil and Howard are both on track in their recovery. Both are expected to be ready for training camp.
