HOUSTON – The Houston Astros are going to recall outfielder Joey Loperfido ahead of Friday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. Loperfido becomes eligible for a recall Friday after spending ten days in Triple-A, after being optioned.
The left-handed outfielder has hit .333 with a home run in 39 at bats for the Astros this season. Loperfido missed three games within the past week after jamming his hand during a slide last Friday. He’s played the past two games for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, and was pulled out of Thursday night’s game after six innings.

Loperfido is ranked as the number 5 prospect in the Astros system by MLB Pipeline.
The Astros will need to make a corresponding move for Loperfido, and another one for the call up of pitcher Jake Bloss. Manager Joe Espada confirmed Bloss will start Friday for his MLB debut. Bloss will also need to be added to the 40-man roster before Friday’s game.
