Texans Training Camp Day 4 Wrap: McIlvoy, Johnson and Wilson report

Fans set to attend three workouts this week

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans are moving quickly at training camp after opening at the Methodist Training Center last Thursday. Day four wrapped on Monday as the team inches closer to opening the preseason in Canton, Ohio next Thursday against the Bears ahead of Hall of Fame Weekend.

The Texans worked out for nearly two hours on Monday as the rain stayed away keeping the team on the outside practice fields. Weather is expected to enter the area beginning Tuesday morning and last most of the week. If conditions deteriorate then the team will move indoors inside of their practice bubble.

Absent again from practice was new running back Joe Mixon who also missed Saturday’s practice. Head Coach DeMeco Ryans was asked about Mixon after practice on Monday.

“Joe will be fine. Joe may miss a little time, but he’ll be fine. Joe is [as tough] as the toughest competitor we have, so I’m not worried about Joe. He’ll be fine. No issues there, " said Ryans.

Monday the Texans offense struggled at time. Ryans commented on that as well.

“When you look at it and as you’re watching it live, you see the defense made a few plays but we always go back and watch the tape and see. You never really know what happened until you watch the tape and get a true understanding. Defense made some plays; offense made some plays, It’s been a lot of back and forth. That’s the makings of a good team. You want it to be back and forth. You don’t want practice to be lopsided every single day and it’s been that way for us. Offense has had some days. Defense has had some days, so I’m encouraged by both sides having their good [days].”

Left Guard Kenyon Green also is making his presence felt. A torn Labrum kept Green out all of last season. He then set out to rehab and get in better shape. In the process he dropped 35 pounds down to 315 lb where he currently is at camp.
