It’s almost that time! The Houston Texans are only a couple of weeks away from defending their AFC Divisional title and, more importantly, they’re aiming for a league one. This is a Houston Texans team that is entering into the year with arguably the most talent they’ve ever had. While most of the starting positions are set, there are some positions needing depth that are up for grabs.

As the Texans take on the Giants this weekend in this preseason home game, here are a couple of names to watch.

Recommended Videos

RUNNING BACK

Joe Mixon: The former pro-bowl running back hasn’t been discussed much lately, but that’s because he’s been dealing with an injury. He is set to see some reps against the Giants, which will be our first look at the new running back in a Texans game uniform.

Dameon Pierce: The third year running back is looking to return to his rookie form. Coaches and teammates have raved about him throughout the preseason during practices, but it hasn’t exactly translated over during the first two preseason games. He’s expected to see snaps on Saturday afternoon, can he match what we’ve seen in practice?

WIDE RECEIVER:

Stefon Diggs: The talented wide receiver has been phenomenal throughout training camp for the Houston Texans. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to see that in his Texans preseason debut against the Steelers last week as he did not have a catch in the Texans starters short stint. With the first teamers set to have more reps on Saturday, there’s a chance we’ll get to see his impact in a game setting.

John Metchie III: The former Alabama standout is still fighting for a roster spot. He’s had moments in practice, but has also had untimely drops. Can he put it together on Saturday to help out his roster chances?

And those are just a few players to watch. KPRC 2 Sports will be at NRG stadium for the game, and we’ll discuss on Sports Sunday as Houston’s favorite TV sports show returns this week!
