Jose Canseco, Johnny Manziel, Josh Reddick headline Going Yard celebrity Home Derby in Sugar Land on Oct. 5

HOUSTON – Retired Major League Baseball slugger Jose Canseco is hosting a celebrity home run derby in Sugar Land at Constellation Field, the home of the Space Cowboys.

Scheduled to attend and participate in the event: former Texas A&M Heisman Trophy winning quarterback and Cleveland Browns first-round quarterback Johnny Manziel, former NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Antonio Brown, former Astros outfielder Josh Reddick and several others.

The event is set for Oct. 5.

Former San Francisco Giants minor leaguer Eric Sim, former Navy Seal Robert O’Neill will be honored before the start of the derby and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Houston-bred rapper RiFF RAFF and “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise” star Leo Dottavio will also be part of the roster for the event, with more special surprises to be announced.

“This is an event for baseball fans, and we want to give people an intimate experience with these guys that they wouldn’t be able to have otherwise,” Going Yard co-founder Frank Giglio said. “We plan to bring this event to more cities and are ecstatic to launch in the Houston area.”

Gates will open at 5 p.m. The competition will be live-streamed at TimeToGoYard.com and commentated by social media personality Bob Menery. Following the derby, the event will feature a Texas-sized fireworks display at Constellation Field.

Tickets can be purchased at the Houston Astros Triple-A affiliate Sugar Land Space Cowboys’ website. Kids three and under are admitted free.
