HOUSTON – The Texans plan to have the roof open at NRG Stadium for their nationally televised Sunday night football game against the Chicago Bears on NBC.

The defending AFC South champions also have scheduled pregame fireworks from the roof, a light show before kickoff and at halftime and will provide light-up wristbands for fans attending the game.

“I’m always going to be myself,” Texans Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud said. “I really don’t get into the hoopla and away crowd, home crowd, I really don’t mind. I just try to execute and do my game, do what I need to do at a high level.

“I love our crowd. They do a good job of bringing juice and energy. I hope, since it’s a night game, people come a little earlier. Maybe because of the Houston traffic, people come a little late. And, then on offense, if they could be quiet a little more, that would help, especially when we’re going fast, it’s hard for the guys to hear me. So, I think we can be a little better with that. But, hey, we love the energy.”

Texans owner Cal McNair told KPRC 2 that the team expects one of the roof panels damaged by Hurricane Beryl will be replaced by gametime.

The team is hoping that poor weather conditions from Hurricane Francine do not slow down the construction into this weekend.

The Texans expect both of their damaged panels to be replaced by their fourth game of the season, a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Hopefully, this hurricane coming through doesn’t impact our schedule too much,” Cal McNair said. “Our fingers are crossed, but we should have the panel across the field repaired. There is a panel that will impact the fans in the end zone, and so, hopefully, we have good weather for the fans for that game. But if it’s going to rain, please bring a rain jacket or something to that.”
