HOUSTON – The Texans released seventh-round defensive tackle Marcus Harris from the practice squad with the addition of wide receiver Jared Wayne.
Wayne is a former Pitt standout, an Ontario, Canada native who’s a big wide receiver at 6-3, 210 and has posted a 42-inch vertical leap and has run the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds.

He was released from injured reserve with an injury settlement and is now back on the Texans’ practice squad.
Wayne caught 60 passes for 1,062 yards and five touchdowns in his final college season as a second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection. He caught 11 passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns against Miami last season, finishing his career with 146 career receptions for 2,308 yards.
Harris, 23, is a 6-foot-3, 295-pound All-Southeastern Conference defensive lineman from Auburn who began his career at Kansas before transferring.
Harris finished his career at Auburn with 97 tackles, 23 1/2 for losses and 11 sacks. He recorded 40 tackles 11 for losses, seven sacks and one forced fumble last season. In 2022, he had 30 tackles, 6 1/2 for loses, two sacks and a pass deflection.
Harris has bench pressed 225 pounds 34 times and run the 40-yard dash in 5.06 seconds with a 1.77 10-yard split.
The Texans worked out former Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tariq Casto-Fields on Wednesday, per a league source. He wasn’t signed, though.
Castro-Fields (6-1, 197) is a former 49ers sixth-round pick from Penn State. He has four career tackles in the NFL. He has played in 12 career games. Castro-Fields, who has run the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds, was waived by the Carolina Panthers this month.
