This week’s KPRC 2 and UTMB Health Athlete of the Week is North Shore senior wide receiver Quanell Farrakhan, Jr.
Farrakhan, Jr. has been one of the standouts on one of the best teams in the country, helping lead North Shore to an undefeated season and a continuing playoff run.
Farrakhan, Jr. leads the Mustangs in receiving yards and touchdowns, with 33 catches for 654 yards and 9 TDs in 2024. He’s a 4-star rated recruit and committed to play for Deion Sanders at Colorado.
“I’m really just a disciplined player,” said Farrakhan, Jr. “And I have that dog mindset.”
“He’s got great playmaking ability, he knows how to create separation and runs great routes,” said head coach Willie Gaston. “He’s a hard practice player, and watching his mindset throughout the week is unbelievable.”
