HOUSTON – The Texans are adding depth in the secondary after nickel Jalen Pitre tore his pectoral partially against the Tennessee Titans.

The Texans are signing former Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers safety Russ Yeast to their practice squad, per a league source.

The Texans will place cornerback Ka’dar Hollman on injured reserve with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, per a source.

Yeast, 25, (5-foot-10, 195 pounds) has also played for the Arizona Cardinals.

He played collegiately at Louisville and Kansas State.

He was a first-team All-Big 12 selection.

In the NFL, he has 81 career tackles and five passes defensed.

He’s a former Rams seventh-round pick.
