Jabari Smith Jr. breaks hand at shootaround, to miss 4-8 weeks

Rockets starting forward Jabari Smith Jr. broke his hand at shootaround Friday morning, and will miss 4-8 weeks, according to head coach Ime Udoka.

“At some point in shoot around, [Smith] got hit on the hand, later they found [it was broken],” said Udoka.

Udoka specified it’s Smith Jr.’s left hand, and he broke his metacarpal, a bone on the top of his hand.

Smith was averaging 11.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season in 33 starts.
