HOUSTON – Hi everybody! This is KPRC 2 Sports Director Randy McIlvoy checking in with this week’s Houston Texans newsletter as we all get ready for Round two!

How are you feeling after that blowout 32-12 win over the Chargers in what was billed as a “Bye week” for L-A according to ESPN’s Rex Ryan.

Hey Rex! Hope that cigar you smoked on air was worth it! What a clown!

Texans now move on to the Divisional Round against the 2-time defending Super Bowl Champs at their house in K-C. Winning at Arrowhead is never easy, especially in January and even more so when it’s a frozen tundra this time of the year.

The forecast for Saturday is a high of 26 around game time. If you’re making the trip to KC make sure you pack for a brutal weather day. Layer up!

Speaking of you fans, if you can get out to NRG’s Green Lot at 12 pm Friday, there’s a team send-off they want you to show up for!

The Texans made headlines today at NRG when waived recently acquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson. He was unhappy after the win with a lack of targets according to reports. Tuesday the Texans parted ways.

On to the game now, the Texans lost back on December 21st at Kansas City 27-19. It was a game they could have won but the loss of Tank Dell was a backbreaker.

The Texans though feel they can go in and take down the 2-time defending Super Bowl Champs in their house. Nationally, there’s no love as Houston sits as 8-point underdogs.

The offense needs to establish the run game with Joe Mixon, be tough up front on the OL and of course C.J. Stroud needs to get it rolling and definitely get Nico Collins involved.

Defensively? They are fresh off a 4 interception and 4 sack performance against Justin Herbert in the win over the Chargers. The S.W.A.R.M. mentality needs to be ramped up!

I’ll be heading out to Kansas City on Friday and coverage then and Saturday from Arrowhead! See you fans out there!

Randy
